I can see how reading the hard copy might be boring。 I， however， listened to the audiobook version read by Eddie Redmayne which made a difference。 I mean， who wouldn’t want to listen to Eddie all day long？ 😉 It doesn’t have the same draw that sucks you in like the Harry Potter series， however， it is supposed to be a “textbook” so I understand why the tone is different。

My introduction to this book “Fantastic Beasts and Where to find them” as a muggle， was very pleasant！ I enjoyed learning about each beasts and beings。 It was short and very easy to read; finished it in couple of hours ☺️

I read this for two reasons: 1） I needed something to get me out of a reading slump and 2） I'm trying to basically reread everything Potter before heading to Orlando mid-December for a week of Christmas in the Wizarding World。 This is certainly a short， but worthwhile read if you're into the series。 It was fun reading the animated version on Kindle for the cuteness factor。 There are times when it's a little disconcerting seeing the illustrations versus the movie depictions （looking at you， Corni I read this for two reasons: 1） I needed something to get me out of a reading slump and 2） I'm trying to basically reread everything Potter before heading to Orlando mid-December for a week of Christmas in the Wizarding World。 This is certainly a short， but worthwhile read if you're into the series。 It was fun reading the animated version on Kindle for the cuteness factor。 There are times when it's a little disconcerting seeing the illustrations versus the movie depictions （looking at you， Cornish Pixies）。 Overall， though， it's an enjoyable diversion， especially for someone who has always been drawn to medieval bestiaries and such。 。。。more

I suspect the audio version of this is among the best - this being another book that （for most people） is more to have， rather than to read。 An illustrated version would be nice to have on a coffee table， but much like What If， or The Zombie Survival Guide， I suspect the vast majority of people who come across it will pick it up， read about a hippogriff or the differences between trolls （where were the Dementors， by the way？？？） and set it back down。I suppose that's true for most books。 People pi I suspect the audio version of this is among the best - this being another book that （for most people） is more to have， rather than to read。 An illustrated version would be nice to have on a coffee table， but much like What If， or The Zombie Survival Guide， I suspect the vast majority of people who come across it will pick it up， read about a hippogriff or the differences between trolls （where were the Dementors， by the way？？？） and set it back down。I suppose that's true for most books。 People pick them up and put them back down without reading them。 Time scarcity alone makes that true。 。。。But wouldn't you say that's especially true for books such as these。At any rate I was one of the thousands who read this one。 And I liked the audio version， but it wasn't so magical for me。But Lumos: yeah。 Magical。 Kudos。 。。。more

This is a nice little addition to the Harry Potter universe。I like the fun in the book， I just wish it had a little more of it。An easy read and with a couple of more drawings， it would have been even more great:）
